Pale in color with a mild nose of grapefruit and citrus. On the mid palate the wine matches the nose with nice pink grapefruit being dominant. On the medium length finish the nice tartness lingers in the mouth with some nice minerality to boot. This is a nice albeit milder sauv blanc. I would give it an 88 or so. Very food friendly. Not

Classic Ontario Sauvignon Blanc aromas and flavours of lime, lemon custard and gooseberry are carried beautifully on a crisp seam of acid through to a long lasting finish. 50% McNally Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Wismer Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Lepp Sauvignon Blanc.

Dark in color with a mild nose. On the mid palate the wine displays expressive dark cherries along with some plummy notes. On the medium length finish the wine is nice and dry with some nice complexity lingering in the mouth along with noticeable oak. This is a lovely wine. The complexity and dryness are subtle and best appreciate with food. That said this is a very food friendly wine. We paired it with meat lasagna and it went well. I would give it an 89 or so. Not in the LCBO, we bought it at the winery for $35. Fielding are continuing to do some great wines, if your in Niagara, be sure and stop by to get some of these great wines that never make it to the LCBO.

Deep red/purple in color with complex aromas of dark chocolate, dried plum, toasted nuts, smoked bacon and blackberries. Well balanced with great weight and richness on the palate, good mouthfeel and a long finish.

Dark in color with a nice smooth nose of red berries. On the mid palate the wine displays some lovely dark red cherries. On the medium length finish the wine displays some lovely dryness and smooth tannins. We paired it with a bacon and ham quiche and it went well. I would give it an 88 or so.

Drawn from two vineyards in the Creek Shores sub-appellation, this rich blend shows the exceptional growing conditions of 2012 for Ontario reds. The fruit is ripe and concentrated, and here it makes for a layered, quite plush mouthfeel that’s consistent right through the palate and through the very good finish. The acidity is well calibrated, cutting through the density of the fruit effectively, and the tannins are supple and moderate. Pale in color with a mild nose of apple. On the mid palate the wine displays some apple, pear and a hint of vanilla. This one, sadly, is no where near as good as the 2012 IMHO. There’s some firm acidity on the medium length finish. I would give it an 87-88.

Pale in color with a mild nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some lovely bold fruit, apple, pear and some nice vanilla and butterscotch. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice oak and a hint of pepper/spice notes. I would give the wine an 89 or so. A lovely smooth well made chards. Sadly not in the LCBO, but available by the 12 bottle case from Trialto for $37.95 a bottle.

Poplar Grove Reserve Chardonnay 2011
Bight gold in colour with aromas of lemon, pineapple & fresh vanilla pods. Flavours of yellow apple & grapefruit are followed by subtle notes of tropical fruits & butterscotch. A richly textured Chardonnay with balanced acidity & a lingering story on the finish.

Winemaker Notes
Our 2011 Reserve Chardonnay was fermented in 100% new French oak barrels for 6 months. A blend of Bel Aire & Saury barriques were used. Barrel rolling was used to incorporate the lees into the flavour profile to bring the nutty characteristics forward. Barrels were rolled weekly for three months. The result is a rich, fruit forward, well-balanced wine with lovely hints of nuttiness

Pale in color with a bright floral nose typical of a Viognier. On the mid palate the wine displays floral notes to match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine displays some lively acidity along with some nice citrus notes. I was suprised how good this was, I often am not fond of Viogniers. This one is good. Should be pretty food freindly too. I would give it an 88 or so. Not in the LCBO but $20.20 at the winery.

Rich aromas of fresh peaches, buttered toast, vanilla bean and orange blossoms on the nose. This medium-bodied wine is well integrated and has a bright acidity. Once you dive into the glass, notes of honeydew melon and baking spices dominate the palate. Sourced from 20+ year old vines located on the Winery property, the grapes produced a richly flavoured Viognier similar to those found in the Rhone Valley in France.

Pale in color with lovely nose of minerality and stone fruits. On the mid palate the wine matches the nose with some lovely citrus, and lime notes backed by some firm and lively acidity. The wine builds nicely in the mouth. The finish is medium in length leaving some nice citrus to linger. This is a lovely wine, and is quit complex. I would give it an 88-89. Not available in the LCBO but available by the 12 bottle case from Trialto for $21.95.
