This is a really odd wine … a Rose made from Sangiovese, and a Sangiovese from Australia … I admit, I picked this up as a complete curiosity. Out of the bottle into the glass this is a very unusual colored Rose, more like a Tavel … Almost ruby in color. Mild on the nose … with a strong vibrant strawberry and cherry notes so reminiscent of a red wine. If you are expecting a smooth, Provence style Rose … ya this isn’t that. Lots of distinctive character to this wine. On the medium length finish the wine displays some lovely citrus and minerality … super dry! The tangy zest is especially noticeable without food. Really a unique experience. I would give this an 88, and probably one of the most unique Rose’s I’ve had in a while … Wow, yumm … I will be going back for more despite the price. Check stock on the LCBO web site … This is shockingly good!
