Pale straw in color with a citrus nose. The bubbles and effervescence which is typical of a vinho verde are visible right on the first pour and on the tongue. On the mid palate the wine is a fruit forward mouth of lime with crisp acidity and dryness. On the medium length finish the wine’s crisp minerality and citrus notes live on. I would give it an 87-88, not a bad wine, but nothing I rush out and grab more either, to me it was a flat wine with few layers or complexity. From the LCBO web site, check stock:
There are seven main grape varieties from which Vinho Verde is typically made; this one uses Alvarinho and Trajadura. Expressive and aromatic, the wine offers peach, apricot and zesty lemon notes with a gentle mineral undercurrent. Sip it with grilled scallops or steamed mussels.
