Garnet in color with a nice soft red berry nose. On the mid palate the wine is spot on varietal with lovely raspberry and cherry notes, almost sour cherry … On the medium length finish the wine is palate coating with lovely rich fruits lingering along with some nice smooth tannins an acidity, nice and dry. This is a beautiful wine, I would give it an 88 or so … my conundrum is for $1 more I can support Niagara wineries for wine that’s on par … But heh, variety, at least NOT in ones mate, is a good thing ;)m oh and as a kayaker who doesn’t love the name! This winery’s name is taken from Nga Waka a Kupe (the canoes of Kupe): the three hills that sit side by side like upturned canoes and form the backdrop for the town of Martinborough and its surrounds.
