Poggio al Tufo Vermentino 2020

I enjoy Vermentinos, crisp dry flavorful wines, we don’t get enough of them, so when one comes in, as long as the sugar content is low, I grab them … This one is pale straw in color with a nice minerally nose. On the mid palate the wine packs a punch with crisp dry minerality and citrus/lime notes. On the medium length finish the wine displays some lovely vibrant acidity and crisp dryness along with green apple tart notes. This is NOT a soft wimpy wine, sipped on it’s own it’s got some boisterous flavors. We paired it with a bacon quiche and it went well, with food it softened. I really like this wine and for the price it’s a great deal. It’s more of a drink now but could last as much as a couple years, I’ll definitely go back and grab some more! I would give it an 88 or so, yumm! From the LCBO web site, check stock: This is an IGT super Tuscan wine.

Poggio al Tufo Vermentino 2020 from LCBO

Aromas of sliced apple, lime and a tinge of almond skin. Medium-bodied with a very focused bead of lime driving through the palate. Same dry-almond character at the end, together with a hint of salt. Very vermentino. Lots of tension here. Drink now. Score – 91. (jamessuckling.com, Aug. 4, 2021)
