Boschendal 1685 Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Dark in color with nice cherry nose, much milder when first opened. On the mid palate the wine displays some mild fruit on the mid palate, dark cherries and the like. But, where this wine lives is in the finish where the fruit comes to life in the mouth after you’ve swallowed along some firm peppery notes, noticeable alcohol, strong acidity and tannins, nice and dry. I’m hard pressed to say if this wine is just a little young or what. A day later I had some of the leftover wine (I know right, bizarre concept), and the mid palate hadn’t improved much. There’s some nice rich notes in the finish, chocolate, mocha and dark fruits. I would give it an -88, I like more in the mid palate. From the LCBO web site, check stock:
