Saint Mont Les Vieilles Vignes 2016

Inky dark in color with a nice dry black berry nose. On the mid palate it’s all black berries coming through. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice soft acidity and tannins. This is a smooth, elegant easy going wine that would easily pair with salmon, trout and the like. I would give this an -88, I’m on a roll of some pretty good wines lately, not excellent, but good! from the LCBO web site, check stock:

A blend of Tannat, Pinenc (a native Occtaine grape with different names by location) and Cabernet Sauvigon, this wine is powerfully structured and dense. The wood aging still shows as a contrast with the bold black fruits. This will change as it matures into a rich wine with great concentration. Drink from 2021. Score – 91.
