2012 Sterling Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay

I love chards. They are beautifully complex. A good Calfornia style chard and scallops are a match made in heaven. Yumm. This particular wine has been one of my long time favs. When the 2012 hit the shelves I was a little nervous as to whether it would keep up the reputation of the past. I last reviewed the 2010. This one is slightly golden in color with a varietal nose with some lovely chard fruit coming through. On the mid pallet the wine displays some lovely varietal chard flavors. This is another good year. It’s not as buttery or creamy as past years. I would guess they have used less oaking on this one. I would give this a solid 89. Which for the price is a great deal. We paired it with … you guessed it scallops and it went well. Yay one of my favs is still one of my favs! This one does not seem to be as sensitive to temperature as past years were. Cold or room temp it’s equally good.
