Mazzei Fonterutoli Chianti Classico 2018

Dark in color with a nice cherry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice cherry and tomato notes. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice vibrant tannins and acidity along with some mocha notes, nice and dry! This is a beautiful, nice and complex, spot on varietal Chianti classico, not cheap but worth the money IMHO … I would give it an 88+. From the LCBO web site, check stock:

Mazzei Fonterutoli Chianti Classico 2018 from LCBO

The Mazzei 2018 Chianti Classico Fonterutoli shows a classic bouquet with tart berry fruit, forest floor, bitter almond, blue flower, cola and grilled herb. The wine presents a classic, cool-vintage profile that suits Sangiovese very nicely as it pulls out the bright, red berry energy that is inherent to this variety. The acidity and bright fruit presented here would make a great companion to chicken roast with potatoes. Drink date: 2020-2026. Score – 92. (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Aug. 13, 2020)
