Alira Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Dark in color with a nice dark cherry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice vibrant black cherry notes that match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice dusty tannins, vibrant acidity and dark chocolate notes, nice and dry. This was a surprisingly good cab, I had no idea what to expect, I’ve not had a Romanian cab before but this was good I would give it an 88 or so, which for the price is a very good deal. Yum. This is a hearty robust wine, be sure and pair it with something that can hold up to it. We paired it with trout and it was a bit overwhelming to the food. From the LCBO web site, check stock:

This wine is grown on the hilly shores of the Danube in an area known for big, velvety red wines. Expect a combination of power and plushness here, with juicy cassis embroidered by toasty vanilla notes from 12 months in French oak. Pour with tocana de miel (Romanian lamb stew) or lamb burgers.READ LESS
