Ponte Pellegrino Aglianico 2018

Dark in color with a soft red berry and woody nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice soft red berry notes to match the nose, maybe some tomato notes. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice vibrant acidity and soft approachable tannins that coat the palate gingerly. This is not as edgy as some Aglianicos, and is quite food friendly. A perfect pizza wine for a perfect price. I’d give it an -88 or so. From the LCBO web site, check stock;

Ponte Pellegrino Aglianico 2018 from LCBO

The Aglianico variety reaches its zenith in the southern Italian region of Campania, where the warm, dry conditions coax out plenty of spicy dark fruit wrapped in structured tannins. Pour this stunningly affordable wine alongside sausages and sautéed mushrooms.[Gambero Rosso did not include a tasting note.] Score – 2 Glasses (out of 3). (Gambero Rosso Italian Wines, 2020)
