Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo 2015

I’ve had this one in the cellar for a while now, so it was time to check it out. Ink dark in color with a mild black berry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice black cherries and black plums along with some dark chocolate and mocha notes. On the medium length finish the wine displays some lovely, complex, dry dusty tannins and lively acidity. At first it had some signs of over aging, but they passed quickly. We paired it with a roast beef and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. I would give it an 88-89. from the LCBO web site (for a different year).

A balanced and fresh red for the hot 2017 vintage with medium body, fine tannins and plenty of currants, blackberries and blueberries on the finish. Drink or hold. Score – 94. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Nov. 7, 2019)
