Hugh Hamilton The Ratbag Merlot 2016

Dark in color with a mild nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice firm black plums, and earthy notes. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice dusty tannins, vibrant acidity, some green notes and some pepper, nice and dry. This is quite a nice Bordeaux style Merlot with some nice complexity with flavors on many levels. I would give it an 88+. From the LCBO web site, check stock: Yumm, I think I will go back and grab some more!

In such a Mediterranean clime, it is easy to forget just how well Bordeaux varieties can perform with the region’s maritime influence. This is no exception. Gently extracted for a design persuasive of early drinking. Notes of tomato leaf, mint and a plummy mid-palate strewn with dried herb, are the calling cards. Score – 91.
