I Balzi Nero d’Avola 2018

Dark in color with a mild black berry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice black berries to match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine displays some lovely rich chocolate and mocha notes along with some nice acidity and tannins, nice and dry! This wine’s complexity punches well above it’s price point. A nice wine, with some big flavors. Be careful what you pair it with … I’d give it an -88. This is a Sicilian wine. There’s a lot of wine here for the price, with richly articulated red and black fruit, tobacco, cocoa, coffee, and pepper spice. Refined tannins give structure, while the acidity offers nice balance. This is a wine to pair with venison or ripening cheeses. (Vintages panel, July 2019)Read Less
