Ravanal Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Dark in color with a nice cab nose, nice cherry notes. On the mid palate the wine displays varietal, bold dark cherries coming through. Quite vibrant. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice vibrant acidity and good tannins along with some green notes. It’s nice and dry. I think this wine might be a bit too young. I bet in 6 months it will be even smoother than it currently is. For now I would give it an -88.

Quite a serious wine with sophisticated dry tannins and a long, tight finish. This will benefit from ageing through at least 2020, though there’s already lovely redcurrant fruit and subtle spices. Score – 93. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, March 16, 2018)
