Poplar Grove Merlot 2011 mini review

Dark in color with a mild nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some beautiful rich plum. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice tannins and lingering dryness. This is a well made Merlot displays lots of complexity and finesse. I would give it an 89-90. Yumm. Sadly not in the LCBO, but available in cases of 12 from Trialto for $34.95. The 2009 is in the LCBO but I have not had it yet.

Tasting Notes
Deep maroon in colour, our 2011 vintage erupts with a bouquet of plum, and leather on the nose. The twenty one months in 100% French oak lends a soft coffee and mocha flavour profile to this wine. The long lingering finish is abundant with dates, black cherry, and black licorice. The perfect companion to red meat and rich tomato pasta dishes.
