Wakefield Shiraz 2013

Inky dark in color with a mild dark berry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice black berries to match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine displays some firm tannins, peppery notes and acidity along with some nice dryness. The wine is a bit on the young side. In about 6 months it would be been better. The fruit right now is kind of overwhelmed. I would give it an 88 or so.

From the LCBO web sie:
Wakefield Shiraz 2013 — VINTAGES#: 943787
STYLE – Full-bodied & Smooth
Dark purple. Ripe dark berries, licorice and woodsmoke on the nose, with a peppery nuance adding lift. A silky, gently sweet midweight that offers tangy blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of vanilla. Shows good energy and focus on the finish, leaving behind bitter chocolate and allspice notes. Score – 89. (Josh Raynolds, vinousmedia.com, July 2014) $17.95
