RÉSERVE DES VIGNERONS SAUMUR-CHAMPIGNY 2010 mini review

Another star from the Vinexx portfolio tasting. This wine is 100% Cabernet Franc. I love Cab Francs. They are big wines with lots of character. Niagara make some great ones! This one is dark in color with a bit of an earthy funky nose. A little out of place for a cab franc. Get past the nose and you get a lovely varietal cab franc with a smooth mid pallet. It’s medium in length on the finish with some smooth tannins. I would give this wine an 88-89. Very nice!

A juicy, mouthfilling style, with bramble, blackberry and currant notes wound together and backed by a lingering tobacco edge on the finish. Drink now through 2013. Special Designation: Smart Buys. Score – 90. (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, April 30, 2012)
