ST. HALLETT BLACKWELL SHIRAZ 2008

My sister gave me this wine as a present! Inky dark in color almost black with a lovely nose of black berries. On the mid pallet the wine displays some lovely varietal black berries to match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine displays some varietal spicy, peppery notes, along with some tannins. The alcohol is still quite noticeable. It could do with some more aging or breathing. I would give it an 89-90 or so … We paired it with a fillet mignon and it held up VERY well. Perfect pairing! Thanks Catherine!
