2008 Ravine Vineyards Merlot

A short review of a good wine from a very inconsistent vintage. Ravine Vineyards is a small boutique winery sitting in the heart of St David’s. Maybe not well known, it has increasingly upped its quality over the past five years. Add an evening at their fabulous restaurant and you can get the full winery experience.

This merlot is in its sweet spot for drinking. Fruit is still ripe to your palate yet it is subtle enough to give you the feeling of maturity. Black cherry and leather are the two principle flavours with hints of cocoa. A wine that left great tastes in our mouthes and sediment in the glasses. Very enjoyable.

The CWG subjective rating is 87 out of 100.
