2011 Trius Sauv Blanc

As regular readers of my posts know I am a lover of Sauv Blancs. Good ones are tremendously food friendly, versatile wines. If a white is called for more often than not I reach for a Sauv Blanc! The 2008 Peninsula Ridge Sauv Blanc I reviewed was excellent so as I was walking out of the grocery store I decided to give this one a whirl. Pale in color with a nose of green grass. I find Sauv Blancs tend to lean either citrus or grassy. On the mid pallet this wine is all about green grassy, but not over the top as some are. The wine is medium in length with a nice bit of acidity, but again not too much. Thing white grapefruit. The wine builds very nicely in the mouth. I would give this an 89 or so. A lovely example of a Sauv Blanc. And then I asked the price and was shocked to hear it’s featured at the LCBO right now for $12.95, regularly 13.95. Wow. What more can one ask for. VERY well done Trius. I’ve regularly been impressed with Trius!
