ZUCCARDI Q TEMPRANILLO 2006

This wine is quite dark in color, mild on the nose. Nothing particularly distinctive jumping out at me. On the mid pallet are some tobacco, so deep dark berry flavors, and the like. On the finish the wine has some dominant alcohol flavors that did not pass with breathing. The wine has lots of pucker power, some strong tannins and some bitterness. This is without doubt a big tempranillo and while not a bad one, it’s not a great one either. I would give it an 88 or so.

From the LCBO web site:
ZUCCARDI Q TEMPRANILLO 2006 Mendoza TASTING NOTE: The 2006 Tempranillo Q was sourced from an estate vineyard planted in 1974. Purple-colored, it displays an enticing bouquet of mineral, blackberry, pepper, and espresso. Medium- to fullbodied, on the palate it is dense, nicely endowed with spicy, savory fruit, and impeccably balanced. It will evolve for 2-3 years and will offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2018. Score – 90. (Jay Miller, www.erobertparker. com, Aug. 2009) 973503 (D) 750 mL $ 18.95
