Hillebrand 2007 Ghost Creek Riesling

We picked this one up at the winery in the spring of this year. Hilldebrand along with their Trius brand are making some consistently great wines in Niagara. This one tickled our fancy at the winery and it has held up well in the 9 months since we bought it. The wine is quite pale in color. On the nose the wine is slightly sweet riesling. On the mid pallet this is a slightly sweeter riesling. About half way between a Kabinett and a Spatlese. Their are some lovely fruit flavors, some pears, some honey and the like. The wine is medium in finish and well balanced. This is a reasonably food friendly wine. I would give this an 88-89, it’s a well made wine and showcases how well Niagara can do when they stick to what they do best! This one does not seem to be in the LCBO so you will have to force yourself to take a trip out to the winery. Such hardship 🙂
