Lyrarakis Vóila Assyrtiko 2018

Pale straw in color with nice minerally nose. On the mid palate the wine has some super distinct flavors, pink grapefruit, nice stone notes, and some lovely minerality. On the medium length finish the wine, especially without food, has some nice long mouth grip where the citrus/lime/grapefruit notes live on. This is a nice bold wine. We paired it with grilled chicken drumsticks and it calmed down a bit with food. Yumm … I would give it an 88 or so, which for the price is a good deal! Nice … and unique! Assyrtiko creates fresh, mineral-driven wines; this certified-vegan example has all that in spades. It’s floral, with lemon and tropical tones, a pure mineral note and bright acidity. A nice pairing for a roasted green-vegetable medley. (Vintages panel, Aug. 2019)
