Riolite Il Poggio Guerriero Falanghina Beneventano 2017

Pale to golden in color with a mild nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice pear, and golden apple notes, along with a hint of pepper/zest spicy notes. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice zesty citrus notes along with some lively acidity. There’s some slightly creamy notes to the texture. In some ways the wine reminds me of an unoaked chard … I would give it an -88 or so. Quite an interesting unique flavor. From the LCBO web site check stock:

(Translated from the Italian) Absolutely the best among the white wines tasted this year: the Falanghina Beneventana 2017. A show of pear, grape and plum, thick pulp, clear fragrance, and wonderful gustative smoothness. Bravo! Score – 97. (Luca Maroni, lucamaroni.com, 2019)
