Swartland Winemaker’s Collection Chenin Blanc 2018

Pale in color with a honey suckle nose. On the mid palate the displays some sharp acidity, some smokey/flinty notes and some minerality. This is an odd/funky chenin. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice mouth grip and citrus notes the grow. I would give it an 87-88. I bought two and will be returning the second. I’m underwhelmed.

In the dry climate of Swartland, some 50 kilometres north of Cape Town, Chenin Blanc has long been the local white wine specialty. This one is perfumed and pretty with orange blossom, tropical fruit and spice notes wrapped in a creamy mouthfeel. A great value and a lovely choice for carnitas or pork chops.
