Pennywise Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 mini review

Dark color with a mild nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice red cherries backed almost immediately by some crisp acidity and mild tannins. The finish is medium in length. The wine might be a bit on the young side, or require some breathing. Then you might be better able to appreciate the fruit. At this point I would give it an 88 or so.

Pennywise Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 — VINTAGES#: 441402
STYLE – Full-bodied & Smooth
The 2013 vintage has earned much praise as one of California’s very best ever – accolades stemming from the ideal wine-producing conditions created by the drought that has gripped the state. The resulting wines offer impressively ripe fruit and a distinct richness and character. The Pennywise has all this in spades; it’s floral, fruit forward and juicy, delivering great purity in its cassis and fruit notes. The judicious use of oak adds vanilla but does not overpower. A delicious, tremendous, value-priced wine. (VINTAGES panel, May 2015) $18.95
