Ara Pathway 2014 Sauv Blanc

I love Sauv Blancs, so food friendly and versatile. Great and refreshing in the summer, goes great in the winter. This one is pale in color with an expressive nose that leaps up at you when you first pour it. Loads of fresh grapefruit on the nose. This gives you a hint of what’s to come … On the mid palate the wine displays edgy grapefruit to match the nose. On the long finish the wine displays lovely citrus notes, some crisp acidity as well as some subtle green notes. This is definitely a lively sauv blanc. If you like yours smooth and subtle, this sure isn’t the wine for you, but I enjoyed it. I would give it an 88-89, which for $14.95 is a great deal. Sadly not available in the LCBO, but you can buy it by the case from Charton and Hobbs. This was one of the first wines I tasted at the recent New Zealand wine Sauv blanc event where they paired it with Oysters at John and Sons Oyster House, and it went very well with the oysters. Yumm! As always, it’s a great day to be on this side of the food chain 🙂
