Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz 2011

Dark in color with a nose of black berries. On the mid pallet the wine displays some black berries to match the nose.  There’s some complexity to the mid pallet.  On the medium length finish the wine displays some tannins along with some firm acidity. There’s even some green notes to the finish. Some ageing might help. There’s no peppery notes at all on the finish. I would give the wine an 88 or so. Not a fabulous Shiraz but not aweful either.

Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz 2011 VINTAGES#: 98392

STYLE – Full-bodied & Smooth
Yalumba has deliberately chosen parcels from the cooler (read Eden Valley) through to the warmer parts of the Barossa (read valley floor) to produce this very well-made, easy drinking, medium-bodied wine. A triumph over the vintage challenge. Drink [until] 2020. Score – 91. (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Jan. 15, 2014
