2004 Five Oaks Cab Sauv mini review

Dark in color with a mild nose. On the mid pallet the wine displays some lovely deep rich dark cherries. The wine is medium in length finish with some very nice smooth tannins. I would give this an 89-90. A typical California rich cab! A great deal for the money!

Tasting Note
A wonderful example that shows off the merits of maturing Aussie red wines. Aromas of smoked meat, old leather, dried fruit, smoke and game. For lovers of aged wines, this is at a peak stage of development. The plentiful mature aromas and flavours still co-exist alongside the fresh blackberry character of its youth. The soft, resolved tannins and a hint of fresh acidity are still on display here. Enjoy it now with grilled steak or portobello mushroom. (VINTAGES panel, May 2012)
