2007 GABBIANO CHIANTI CLASSICO

I last reviewed the 2008 non Classico version of this wine and quite enjoyed it. I figured the Classico ought to be even better … Dark in color mild on the nose with some browning near the edges of the wine. On the mid pallet this wine is surprising undistinctive. Not even as bold as the non Classico. Some dark berries coming through, little no oak. The finish on the wine is on the lighter side. It is a food friendly wine, but honestly there is not a lot going on. I was thoroughly disappointed. Now it’s possible the bottle I had was not good, but it wasn’t bad either. Wasn’t corked. nothing aweful about it, just nothing good either. Stick with the non-Classico one for my $$s. I’d give it an 88 or so. $16.95
