Dona Paula Estate Malbec 2006

I last reviewed this wine back in June of 2009. I had a few still in the cellar. The wine is dark in color with lots of dark cherries and some sweet fruit coming through on the nose. On the mid pallet the wine is deep rich and smooth. Lovely cherries and some prunes coming through. It has continued to improve in the bottle. The wine is medium in length. I would give this a solid 90. For the money this is a bargain.

Tasting Note
Dona Paula’s 2008 Estate Malbec is purple-colored with a pleasing bouquet of spice box, incense, and black cherry. This leads to a medium to full-bodied, plush wine with layered black cherry and blueberry flavors, light tannin, good concentration, and a fruit-filled finish. Drink this tasty effort over the next 4 years. Drink: 2009-2013. Score – 88. (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, Aug. 2009)
