D’ARENBERG THE MONEY SPIDER ROUSSANNE 2008

A friend gave me this wine as a house warming present. Thanks Dave! I had no idea what to expect when I cracked this one. I’m not well versed in this grape. The wine is golden in color with a nose of honey, somewhat reminiscent of a California style chard. On the mid pallet the wine has some chard like flavors. Some creamyness, some vanilla. Strangely this wine is unoaked. The wine starts subtely on the finisih which builds nicely. This is a VERY food friendly wine. I paired it with a pan fried cod and it went very well. I would give it an 89-90. Very nice!

Tasting Note
The 2008 The Money Spider Roussanne is unoaked. Light gold-colored, It has an enticing bouquet of honey, candle wax, and melon aromas followed by a vibrant, ripe, smooth-textured wine with layers of flavor. Drink this outstanding effort over the next 2-3 years. Score – 90. (Jay Miller, www.erobertparker.com, Dec. 2009)
