2007 Ravenswood Old Vines Zinfandel

If you’ve been wondering what’s been keeping me busy (and not posting so frequently), I’ve been working on one of my other hobbies. My hi tech gadgets. Dark in color mild on the nose. On the mid pallet the wine is deep, rich, and slightly sweet with loads of black fruits coming through. On the finish its got strong firm tannins a slight pepper taste and is slightly tart. Thus is a big wine. I would give it an 89. We paired it with beef wellington which was delicious by the way and it held up well!

Tasting Note
Medium-deep ruby colour. Impressive array of aromas, including blackberry, sweet black cherry, bumbleberry pie, freshly turned earth, and masala spice. Dry and quite flavourful, and very nicely balanced by a racy freshness and velvety tannins. This hefty but vibrant wine is an ideal match for Korean-style ribs. It will also reward 1-3 years in a cellar. (VINTAGES panel, Nov. 2010)
