Chateau Des Charmes St David Bench 2007 Sauvignon Blanc

This wine in the past has been one of my favorite Sauv Blanc’s from Niagara. The wine is pale in color mild on the nose with some citrus coming through. On the mid pallet the wine has a bit of sweetness reminiscent of a Niagara Riesling. I’ve not noticed this before. On the finish the wine is long and lingering but in a good way, with some mild tartness coming through. This isn’t a bad wine but no where near as good as it has been in the past. It’s a little watery and flabby in comparison to the past. We paired it with a Tandoori chicken and it went well. I would give this wine an 88 or so. The wine definitely improved as it warmed up so be careful not to make it too cold.
