CHÂTEAU DES CHABERTS CUVÉE PRESTIGE 2007

Another one from the Churchill Cellars portfolio tasting. The wine is dark in color mild on the nose. In the mid pallet the wine has some of the varietal Provence sweet red berry flavors but not over the top. Some cassis and dried fruits. The wine is medium in finish with some dry pucker power and some nice tannins. All in all a pleasant experience. I would give it an 89. Not a bad deal for the money.

Description
This award-winning wine is a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre. Provence is not the place one thinks of for Syrah-focused wines, but if this is the result, they should keep it up. The aromas suggest blackberry, cassis, cedar and garrigue. Dry and flavourful, age this one 2-4 years, or enjoy it tonight with grilled lamb chops or winter-barbecued steaks.
