J. LOHR SOUTH RIDGE SYRAH 2006 (re-review)

I last tasted this back in August and it’s amazing what a difference 3 months can make. All the edgeyness is gone. I decanted it for 1/2 an hour and it made for a beautiful smooth and silky wine. Lots of lovely deep fruit flavors, slightly jammy and all in all a beautiful wine. The wine is deep purple in color. This is made much more in a French style Syrah than an Aussie Shiraz. There is no peperryness at all. This is now heading into a 91. Well worth it. Grab some!

From the LCBO Web site:
J. LOHR SOUTH RIDGE SYRAH 2006 Paso Robles TASTING NOTE: Deep purple-ruby in colour this Syrah is packed with ripe fruit accented by spicy notes. The nose opens to sweet blackberry black cherry anise and black pepper. These flavours carry through on the palate whose plush fruit flirts with jamminess but is restrained by fine silky-smooth tannins. Very approachable this wine will make a lovely partner to grilled back ribs or barbecue chicken wings. (VINTAGES panel June 2009) 948240 $18.95
