Ardal Crianza 2013

I’ve had this one before and been impressed, so when I saw it on the recent release I grabbed it. Inky dark in color with a mild nose. About the only thing about this wine that is mild. On the medium length finish the wine displays some big, bold, black berry fruit, and some mocha. On the longer finish the wine displays some lively acidity, firm tannins and lovely dryness. The complexity of this wine rises well above it’s price. The LCBO describe this as full bodied and firm and I’d definitely agree. I would give it an 88+. Be sure and pair it with something BIG or your won’t be tasting anything but the wine!! Given the tannins in this wine I would say it would have no problem holding it’s own for a couple years at least!
