Leira Albariño 2013

I last reviewed the 2010 vintage of this wine and enjoyed it. Pale in color with a slightly crisp, slightly sweet nose. On the mid pallet the wine displays some crisp citrus notes along with a hint of sugar. On the medium length finish the wine displays a hint of honeysuckle (think Riesling). But just a hint. It’s a reasonably food friendly wine. 88-89. A nice Alvarinho. I did notice the wine was sweeter when served cold and got crisper and more complex as it warmed up.

Bright, juicy, and fresh with vivacious aromas of spring meadow, apple orchard, and fresh hay, plus flavours of apple, white peach, and citrus. A good choice for herbed chicken breast or seafood. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2014)
