CARMIM REGUENGOS RESERVA 2008

I bought this one on the recommendation of my local wine product specialist Nick. Dark in color with a mild nose. About the only thing about this wine that is mild. On the mid pallet this wine displays some nice red berries. On the finish is where this wine comes through. It’s spicey, with lovely bright acidity firm tannins that live on to a long finish. It’s got some lovely dryness that builds nicely in the mouth. This is a beautiful wine with lots of complexity, a good deal for the money assuming you like BIG wines. I would give it an 90. Yumm.

Tasting Note
(Translated from the Portuguese) Reguengos Reserva (Tinta Caiada/Alicante Bouschet/Trincadeira/Aragonês) is a crystal clear wine, ruby in colour with evolved aromas of spice, raisin and vanilla, plus soft tannins to give it balance. It’s notable for its well-defined regional characteristics. This wine can be drunk now, or if you prefer, you can let it age for 3-4 years. (sabores.sapo.pt, Oct. 10, 2011) .
