LUIGI BOSCA RESERVA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2006

I bought this one because I love their Malbec which I will feature in a future review. On the nose the wine wine has some mild cab like fruit. On the mid pallet there are some very mild blue berry like flavors. I have had a difficulty in how to write this one up. It really does not conjure up specific flavors for me. On the finish there are some tannins noticeable some oak and some smoke. Overall I didn’t dislike the wine but it definitely does not have the deep rich cassis and cherry flavors I enjoy in a cab. The wording below also lacks specifics which tells me I was not the only one having difficulty describing it. Overall I would give this maybe an 88 or so. I wouldn’t be leaping out to buy more of these.

LUIGI BOSCA RESERVA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2006 Maipú Mendoza TASTING NOTE: Bright ruby-red. Black- and redcurrant mocha and tobacco along with a whiff of reduction on the inviting nose. Pliant and sweet with fairly thick but smooth flavors of currant chocolate and leather. Finishes with dusty toothcoating tannins. Offers considerable early pleasure but has the freshness to last. Score – 89. (Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar Jan./Feb. 2009) 128629 $16.95 Featured 9/26/2009
